Albufera is a shallow coastal lagoon easy accessible from Valencia, situated around 11 km south of the city. It is the largest lake in Spain and one of the most important wetlands on the Iberian peninsula.

Declared a Natural Park in 1986, Albufera is known for its large variety of birds such as red duck, the white stork, the seagull, the shag, the night heron, the little egret and many other species including endangered fish species such as the Spanish tooth-carp. It offers the visitor the chance to experience nature and birdwatching.

The origin of Albufera dates back to a very early age and its name comes from the Arabic al-buhayra (the small sea).
Every evening in Albufera, visitors can enjoy one of the most spectacular sunsets. Albufera’s gorgeous sunset view is a perfect way to celebrate the end of the day.
